In FROTZ® when autumn arrives we collect the best Galician and Bierzo valley chestnuts.
They are usually smaller in size, more difficult to peel, but are much sweeter than those of other origins.
We calibrate and peel them over an open fire to remove all the skin, then freeze them with nitrogen to maintain all their texture, flavor and color.

Boxes of 5 bags of 1 kg each.
They are presented in whole units in frozen state (by IQF ultra-freezing).

Ideal for game, meat or poultry, stews, desserts or cakes. Recommended for poultry stuffing.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Color: typical chestnut brown.
Smell: characteristic of this nut.
Flavor: natural chestnut (depending on how it is consumed).
Texture/Consistency: homogeneous and creamy but quite consistent.

Storage Conditions

Tested shelf life: 42 months, kept in original packaging and stored frozen at -20ºC.
If thawed, it should never be refrozen.
It should be thawed under refrigeration (2 to 5ºC) and kept at this temperature until its total consumption, recommended in a maximum of 48 hours, preserving its organoleptic properties.
